Joining AAA is worth it when you look at the average cost of towing alone. Depending on your state of residence, when you join AAA at the Classic level of benefits, you’ll get up to 7 miles per tow to the destination of your choice. But if your car breaks down on a road trip in a remote location, the independent service provider can also tow your vehicle back to its facility for free, no matter how far away.
According to J.D. Power, the national average cost of a tow is approximately $109, which is more than the cost of an annual membership at the Classic level of benefits.
With AAA, there’s no need to visit your dealer, repair shop, or auto parts store for car battery testing.
